The Plague and the Moonflower is an oratorio on the scale of Handel's Messiah - its theme, the struggle for the survival of our planet in the face of apathy, pollution and greed. It combines music, drama and poetry in an extraordinary and richly textured collage. The recording features Oscar winner Ben Kingsley as the narrator, Sir Ian Holm as the Plague Demon, and virtuoso guitarist John Williams. Richard Harvey employs three choirs, soloists, orchestra, electric instruments and an Andean folk group to complement the powerful words and images by Ralph Steadman.

The Plague and the Moonflower has been performed in all the major cathedrals in the UK. A BBC film of the production won the Indies Award in 1995 for Best Music and Arts Programme.

Recorded at CTS Studios, Wembley in 1995
